Because the source of Burney Falls is underground, the flow varies little winter or summer. It is located near Mt. Lassen.

Darwin Falls is a perennial waterfall located in one of the driest places on earth, Death Valley.

One or two days a year when the sun comes up the Yosemite Valley and lights up a southward facing wall of El Capitan, after a big snowfall, after a warm spell that melts the snow in a small watershed atop the cliff, and when there are clouds on the horizon to make the light orange, this is a magic of Horsetail Falls.
Vernal Falls in Yosemite hastens the course of the Merced River with its precipitous drop. The size and flow of this waterfall is immense during the springtime melt and the falls itself can't be approached on foot as in this photo.

Salmon Creek Falls on the Big Sur coast is one of my favorite waterfalls. It's a relatively short hike from the roadside parking.

Kitchen Creek Falls is located at the southern end of the Laguna Mountains in San Diego County near the Mexican border. This set of falls is remarkable because it is actually seven falls in one.
Holy Jim Falls is named after a local resident of Trabuco Canyon who had extremely colorful language, crossing the border into the profane and obscene. The cartographer could not bear to name the falls using the real name so invented "Holy Jim Falls."

Sturvenvant Falls is found above the hills a Pasadena and was a popular destination during the hiking crazes of the '20s and '30s.
Ortega Falls is located in eastern Orange County off of Highway 74. It's about a 1/2 mile hike to these beautiful falls.

Rose Valley Falls are the highest in Southern California and one of the most beautiful. .
