Willow Creek Road, San Benito, California

After I had an opportunity to visit Pinnacles National Monument my curiosity was drawn to the San Benito Parallel, south of Pinnacles. Lonely country roads always draw me to them.
The San Benito Valley is a long valley that parallels the coastal mountains inland from King City. There is only one easy egress. This is basically cow ranching country consisting of large farms.

On the Willow Creek Road, just
south of Pinnacles National
Monument, one can see on
the creek bottom the
brilliant dark pink hues
of the tamarisk bush.
The cow parsnip creates a
nice contrast to the
tamarisk.

The brilliant pink of the
tamarisk is a nice contrast
to the cool green of the
recently watered hillsides.
